What’s the Disney Dining Plan? What It Is, How it Works and Why People Love it!

The Disney Dining Plan (DDP) is a prepaid (or sometimes free) meal package that UK guests can add when booking a combination of tickets and hotel for Walt Disney World. It gives you a set number of meal credits and snack credits per night of your stay, making your holiday feel more “all‑inclusive” and helping families budget meals in advance. Look out for special deals that Walt Disney World offer to UK guests – often you can book a package for the next year and Disney will include the dining plan for free! Check out the official Walt Disney World travel page to see the latest offers available to UK guests.

If you are consider paying up front for the Disney dining plan or you’ve bagged a deal which included it for free then you need to understand how it works and how to get best value from it.

How the Disney Dining Plan Works (2026)

Every guest aged 3+ on your booking receives a fixed number of meals and snacks per night of your stay, not per day. Credits are pooled together and can be used at any time from check‑in until midnight on your check‑out day. So you don’t lose them if you don’t use them each and every day.

Depending on the type of dining plan you have you will either have ‘quick service’ and ‘snack’ credits or if you are on the standard diningn plan you’ll aslo have ‘table service’ credits as well.

Your credits total can be found inside the very useful ‘My Disney Experience’ mobile app. Once you check in to your disney hotel you will find the info there.

At a quick service restaurant you simply:

  1. Order your meal (this can be in person on by ordering the My Disney Experience app)
  2. Tell the Cast Member you’re using the Dining Plan (or tick it if in the app)
  3. Tap your MagicBand / MagicMobile
  4. Credits are deducted automatically

At a snack stand or food outlet look for the ‘snack’ eligible symbol (as seen below) next to any item on a menu or sign and this will tell you it is eligible as an item to use a ‘snack’ credit on.

As you can see in the photo below those top three create your own treats a Goofys candy company in Disney Springs are eligible for as an item to use a snack credit on as they have the symbol next to them!

If you’ve booked a table service restaurant your server will ask you if you are using the disney dining plan before they bring the bill (or cheque as it is known as in the US ) so that the credit can be deducted from your plan when you settle the bill.

Tips at table service (gratuities as they are known in the US) are expected and you should budget around 20% of the final bill price (of what you would have paid if paying cash). They are not included except at dinner shows.
