How Rider Switch Works Step‑By‑Step
1. Arrive at the ride entrance together
Your whole group must approach the Cast Member at the entrance.
Tell them you would like to use Rider Switch – and for what reason
2. The Cast Member assigns the Rider Switch pass
- Group 1: The people riding first
- Group 2: The adult staying with the non‑rider (plus up to two extra guests)
Group 2 gets a digital Rider Switch entitlement added to their My Disney Experience app. You can either scan your magic band with the cast member or your ticket.
3. Group 1 rides normally
They join the standby queue or Lightning Lane (if you have Genie+ or an Individual Lightning Lane).
4. Group 2 rides afterwards — with a shorter wait
Once Group 1 returns, Group 2 can enter the Lightning Lane and ride with a much shorter queue. In order to use this lane you will scan your magicband and/or ticket. This is how the system knows you are entitled to use that faster lane.
