Whether you’re heading on a weekend break or a long‑haul holiday, here’s everything you need to pack for a calm, comfortable, stress‑free trip with your baby.

Baby Essentials You Should Never Travel Without

Nappies (or diapers as they are known in the US!)

Pack enough for the journey plus 1–2 days at the absolute minimum – most people find nappies more expensive to buy in the US so travel with enough to cover the whole trip if you can – This leaves rooms for souvenirs on the way back in your case!
*Top tip – If you find yourself stuck without any in a park take a trip to a baby care centre where you can buy a small supply to see you through the day.

Baby Wipes

Take a travel pack of wipes for your bag – I have always decanted some into a travel pouch and kept whole bulky packs in the hold luggage.

This is the type of travel pouch I use – I now keep sanitising wipes inside for use in the plane rather than baby wipes as none of mine are in nappies anymore!

Nappy Bags

For changes on the go to keep stinky smells at bay. Also can be used for any wet clothing if required. I’ve found dog poop bag dispensers useful for travel as you can keep the bags neat and at hand!

Changing Mat

Foldable, wipe‑clean, lightweight. This can easily be placed in a nappy bag or hand luggage. My favourite is to use an on-the-go all in one to carry inside a ‘park bag’ for everyday use in the parks or on the plane. That way everything is at hand no matter where you are!

My Final Tips for Stress‑Free Packing

  • Pack in cubes to keep baby items organised – and if you can label them do
  • Lay everything out first, then remove 20% — you’ll still have plenty!
  • Check what your accommodation provides before you travel (cot, highchair, kettle)
  • Keep a small “emergency kit” in your hand luggage
  • Bring familiar items to help baby settle in new places

Travelling with a baby doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right essentials packed and organised, you can enjoy a smooth, memorable trip — and focus on making happy family memories instead of worrying about what you forgot.
